Underpinning every SHAWOOD home is a pre-engineered structural framework consisting of a post and beam system that incorporates glulam structural timber and specialised metal joints delivering millimetre perfect calibration. When combined they create a structure of extreme accuracy, rigidity and strength, capable of withstanding major natural occurring events such as earthquakes and typhoons. The innovative technique allows for large uninterrupted spans in excess of 8 metres, and stunning architectural features unique to SHAWOOD.

In 2014, Sekisui House launched its first major volume of SHAWOOD homes in Australia with the completion of an initial tranche of 20 homes in 2015 at its award winning masterplanned community The Hermitage in Sydney’s southwest.
