Sean Bull

NSW Business Development and Technical Sales Engineer, XLam

Sean is the XLam Business Development and Technical Sales Engineer for NSW. Sean graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a BEng (Hons) in 2010. Following graduation, he spent the best part of 10 years working in the Sydney Commercial Construction market in the post tensioning field, developing a sound understanding of engineering and estimating principles.

In 2017, came the opportunity to join XLam, in what was a very young and dynamic mass timber market.

Sean has gone on to be one of the leading CLT advisers in the country. With knowledge covering all aspects of CLT and mass timber construction, Sean has seen nearly 100 mass timber projects through to engagement and countless others in various stages of pre-contract involvement.

Sean is now responsible for further developing the XLam market in NSW, and nurturing XLam projects right from first contact through to engagement. Sean’s role at XLam covers providing advice on design intent, NCC compliance, site logistics, installation advice and cost planning assistance.

Richard Smith

Director, MBM

Richard has over 25 years of experience in both the UK and Australia. Having successfully managed project teams for both contractors and client-side consultancies, he is equipped with a unique knowledge base that allows him to resolve problems quickly and successfully. Richard has led successful teams on major projects such as the NBN national roll out, the introduction of DfMA schools to NSW, the Waterloo and Redfern estate development and the timber-based AVE Development for Mulpha at Norwest.

Scott Hearne

Director, Innovation and Integration, Sensum

Scott is passionate leader and strategic thinker with a love for collaboration and innovation to support a core focus around people and our planet. He gets great joy in bringing diverse people together to tackle the challenges of projects and life. He gets excited by helping individuals and businesses identify and realise their dreams and aspirations… as well as finding and connecting likeminded collaborators and conspirators.

He has a particular drive and passion to see the construction industry evolve through research, development and implementation of Modern Methods of Construction, exploring and understanding new and emerging technologies.
While seeking to change and evolve both himself and those around him, he understands the natural resistance and uncertainty driven by change. This understanding guides my approach and engagement.
