Prefab Innovation Projects

Project 1 : Financial Models for Prefabricated Housing

Context - Restricted access to bank funding is a recognised roadblock to increased mainstream take up of offsite construction. This is not unsurprising given that the lending regime was developed for traditional construction.

AIM: To accelerate the adoption of new funding and financing models for the Australian prefab building industry

Project 2. : Accelerating the adoption of DFMA for the Australian prefab building industry

Context - In 2021 and over the next few years, there are significant opportunities for the prefab industry such as the prefab school projects in NSW, Adelaide and Victoria, the social housing project in Victoria and other states as well as the health care projects around Australia. The prefab industry however is facing the capacity and supply chain problems in order to deliver those projects. There is an urgency to scale up the capacities and expertise of the prefab industry in Australia. This project led by PrefabAus will be one of the key enablers.

Aim - To accelerate the adoption of DFMA for the Australian prefab building industry. The future of Australia’s building and construction industry will be heavily influenced by industrialisation, digitalisation and globalisation. The industry is ripe for disruption and Australian construction must secure a first-mover advantage to ensure it can compete with emerging international competitors
