Building 4.0 CRC

Building 4.0 CRC is an industry-led research initiative co-funded by the Australian Government. The consortium carries out research and development activities that lead to tangible benefits for the building industry and the broader community. Working collaboratively, the CRC strives for innovative research outcomes that translate into commercial, technological and efficiency benefits for its industry partners, and improved environmental, safety and cost performance for the community.

The CRC seeks to lead industry change and deliver a new building eco-system: leveraging the latest technologies; creating a data-driven industry; promoting human-centric design; and, encouraging new thinking and expert collaboration between our best-in-class partner organisations. Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre

The Prefab Innovation Hub was announced by Karen Andrews, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology on 16 June 2019 to support Australia’s manufacturing and building and construction sections. The members of the Advisory Board to the Prefab Innovation Hub are:

prefabAUS, University of Melbourne,, HIA, University of Wollongong, Queensland University of Technology and Building 4.0 CRC

The new Hub will support work on a wide range of buildings, including tiny houses, larger homes and offices and strengthen Australia’s position in the global prefabricated building market.  The Hub will deliver the following outcomes:

  • support links between the construction and manufacturing sectors to enable businesses to benefit from advanced manufacturing processes
  • support new technologies and innovations enabling the transformation of the industry to provide smarter, more affordable and more sustainable construction solutions for Australians
  • grow the manufactured buildings eco-system to improve business capability to incorporate advanced technologies and processes within industry
IMCRC

The vision is for Australian manufacturing to be thriving, relevant and globally integrated. As a not-for-profit, independent cooperative research centre, IMCRC helps Australian companies increase their relevance through collaborative, market-driven research in manufacturing business models, products, processes, and services. PrefabAUS members have access to these services and can develop specific research project that address their needs. Please contact damien.crough@prefabaus.org.au

Master Builders Victoria

By Pooling our expertise and advocacy from our collaborative relationship we were able to make strong representations to the government to remain open and productive and contribute during COVID when so many other industries were not permitted to do so. The CALD initiative was instrumental to this and has continued to lead the way for key messaging during the pandemic. prefabAUS and MBV are now working together with government on the proposed Quarantine facility in Victoria and welcome input from our members, please email damien.crough@prefabaus.org.au

CAMP.H

With strong support from prefabAUS, the ARC Training Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing (CAMPH) was awarded $4M in funding, under the Industrial Transformation Research scheme. The CAMPH is the centrepiece for collaborative, eco-friendly, prefabricated housing research in Australia, striving to deliver breakthrough product and process innovations that will enable the Australian housing industry to compete on a global stage.
