prefabAUS appoints co-founder Damien Crough as Executive Chair

prefabAUS, the peak body group for Australia’s offsite construction industry, announces the appointment of Damien Crough as Executive Chair. Crough co-founded prefabAUS in 2013, and until now has been busy with other business pursuits in the industry, before stepping into the full-time role of Executive Chair this month. 

Crough will be chairing a Board of highly experienced operators in the prefabrication space, including past Managing Director and CEO of Fleetwood Building Solutions, Brad Denison and prefabAUS co-founder and Managing Director of Prebuilt, Rob Colquhoun. 

prefabAUS is the hub for building prefabrication in Australia, with a targeted focus on education Australia about the benefits of modern prefabrication technologies, providing industry with vital information, promoting for a stronger and more streamlined uptake of building prefabrication and advocating to decision makers on behalf of prefabAUS members. 

In particular, prefabAUS believes prefabrication has a crucial role to play in transforming Australia’s built environment through decreasing construction time frames and construction waste, while increasing quality, productivity and affordability. 

Of stepping into the role as Executive Chair, Crough said “I am excited to take a more active role in prefabAUS. My focus will be on continuing the strategic vision of prefabAUS and overseeing the delivery of important projects and partnerships”.

“My vision over the next five years is for prefabrication to be recognised as a premium product and for prefabAUS to be the key facilitator to government and industry on the significant benefits that offsite construction can provide. We will further increase the use of prefabrication in Australia by showcasing the delivery of beautifully designed, sustainable outcomes for the built environment that are being delivered all over Australia using prefabrication. Through this I expect to realise an uplift in membership of 50%, said Crough”.

In his first weeks as Executive Chair, Crough signed Bluescope on as a partner. Of the partnership, he said “Bluescope coming onboard as a foundation partner with prefabAUS highlights their commitment to the prefabrication movement. They are a key player in the industry, and they will be supporting global outreach, representation of the industry voice and ongoing advocacy at a pivotal time.”
